THE CITY MISSION

Providing help and hope to all people through the transforming power of God’s love.

Founded in 1910, The City Mission has been serving the poor and homeless in Greater Cleveland for nearly 96 years. Through serving men, women, children and families with biblically-based programs that promote the development of life-skills, sound decision-making, quality parenting, and household management. The Mission continues to address the ever-growing and ever-present plight of those living in poverty in the City of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. The City Mission is dedicated to transforming lives by moving people from a point of dependence and helplessness to a point of independence and self-sufficiency.

CROSSROADS MEN'S & LAURA’S HOME WOMEN’S MINISTRY Comprehensive programs for the homeless beginning with emergency shelter and progressing through four phases of recovery that leads to successful reintegration into society. Men and women suffering life-threatening challenges and addictions benefit from this 'grace-based' system of accountability among staff and residents. Laura’s Home welcomes homeless women with children of all ages.

NEIGHBORHOOD OUTREACH Reaching out to our neighbors through no-cost clothing outlets and programs that challenge and equip people to make constructive changes in their lives. This ministry reaches out in diverse and creative ways to local Cleveland communities such as: providing EITC tax seminars, Fannie Mae financial seminars, distributing personal care packages, and handing out food to hungry families. The City Mission also hosts the City Bible Institute which provides on-site Moody Bible classes for area pastors and others.

PATHWAYS YOUTH MINISTRY A preventative program, offering an after-school program, youth clubs, summer camps, tutoring and leadership training for children and youth. Students get academic help, study the Bible, and gain self-esteem as they interact with mature Christian leaders. College scholarships are provided to actively enrolled students who meet established criteria.

JAIL AND PRISON MINISTRY Proclaiming the life-changing gospel to inmates though chapel services, counseling and Bible correspondence courses. The City Mission goes regularly in the Cuyahoga County Jail with the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, holding several services each week. Many men upon release come to the City Mission to join the Crossroads program.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES The City Mission invites people to use their gifts and abilities to make a positive impact in a wide variety of volunteer ministry positions. Opportunities are available for individuals, groups, churches and corporations.
