BETHESDA HOUSE OF MERCY
Bethesda The House of Mercy is a ministry of The Community of Jesus, the Living Mercy founded by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in 1990 to provide a community of healing and a sanctuary of hope for persons wounded by abortion. At Bethesda, peer support companions facilitate a sacred encounter with the heart of the Good Shepherd by providing spiritual direction and support through a process of reconciliation. As companions for the healing journey, we provide a listening heart, prayer and encouragement. We offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Liturgy, Annual Retreats, Evenings and Days of Reflection, Healing Services, Feast Day Celebrations, Couples Ministry, Pre-marriage Support and other opportunities for prayer and fellowship as the journey of healing continues throughout the year at Bethesda. Referrals to clergy and a professional counselor trained in post-abortion trauma and healing are available. We also provide a resource library providing materials and books to help you understand the healing process, to grow in trust and faith in the mercy of God, and to develop healthy, life-giving relationships with others. Testimonial speakers to share their stories, educate the community on the emotional and spiritual aftermath of abortion and give witness to the saving power of our Lord Jesus Christ are also available. The Community of Jesus, the Living Mercy is a lay community of women and men who have walked the healing journey after abortion. Consecrated to our Mother of Sorrows, we are committed to seeking the Holy Face of Christ and revealing His mercy to the wounded heart. We are a member of the worldwide family of Good Shepherd ministries and communities.
